From Inspiration to Publication Writing Workshop

A Workshop with author and poetry slam champion Demi Anter

This two hour workshop, based on Demi’s popular online course by the same name, is geared towards writing newcomers who want to take their first steps towards creative writing, as well as anyone looking to kick start their practice after a break from writing. All writers will begin by crafting narratives from personal experience, learning how to mine their immediate environments for inspiration, and then move into various other forms of writing. The course will also cover constructive critique and pathways to publication.

Who is the workshop for?

All types of writing and writers are welcome: Exercises will be flexible for both poets and prose writers. Most importantly, we hope everyone will come away with a newfound sense of freedom and joy around writing, as well as concrete skills to continue to hone your craft and find inspiration.

Who is your Workshop Leader?

Demi is an Austrian-American writer, performer and teacher. Her work has appeared in Magma, Banshee, Ninth Letter, Figure 1, and The Times UK, as well as on BBC Radio London. She has been a featured performer at Glastonbury Festival, Electric Picnic, the Scottish Storytelling Centre, and Poetry Ireland. After five years in Berlin, she now lives in London where she is completing an MFA at Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance. Demi's debut collection Small Machine is forthcoming with Write Bloody UK in 2022, and has been called "Tender, visceral, beautifully vulnerable,” by Musa Okwonga (In The End, It Was All About Love.), and "Strikingly luminous and soothing,” by Chanel Miller (Know My Name).
