How to Throw a Party

Partying, as we used to know it, is now impossible. In a changing world, generating new ideas and feelings about what partying means to us can be a galvanizing, pleasant, and important activity. Sometimes, we only are able to understand the meaning of something when we lose it. As some outside raves and group activities start to take place again it can be interesting to explore and imagine what celebration and partying means to us and which role it has occupied in our lives. Also, after months of lockdown, we have probably not only felt detached from others but also from ourselves, so the idea is also to come back in touch with ourselves and celebrate our own bodies, energies, and existences.
In this 2 hour workshop, we will meditate, vocalize, and move our bodies, in a shared attempt to redefine our own views of what partying means. Bring a small notebook and a pen. Bring a mask. We will connect both with the group and with ourselves through producing shared sounds and musicality and through movement. One writing prompt will follow and we will have a round to share our words and thoughts.

ABOUT YOUR WORKSHOP LEADER:
Denise Pereira is a poet, performer, and polymath who believes that words have the magical power to transform, heal, and connect. Originally from Portugal, she is living in Berlin since 2016. Her work can be read in Portuguese, English, and German and it is currently published in several literary magazines in Europe and Latin America. She has a Ph.D. in the History and Philosophy of Science and is also a passionate singer and amateur ukulele player. You can read her works here: http://therestlesspuppet.blogspot.com/ .
