The Power of Gratitude
By: Linda Catalina Villamarín
Recently, my mother taught me a healing technique that I interpreted as a spell for the universe. It’s about repeating certain words constantly and activating your energy to attract what you’re looking for: peace, calm, forgiveness, love, etc. . . . The point is that the correct use of these words can also attract good news, good results in very specific fields, or simply make things better for you. Using the right words at the right time opens doors.
I decided to put it into practice. One of the things that came to me was to simply say thank you repeatedly, almost like a prayer or a rap song. One day, after starting this practice, I needed to make some urgent payments, but the bank was already closed. I started quietly chanting, “Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.” The result? As strange as it sounds, they opened the door and let me in.
On another occasion, I had an important meeting but didn’t have the necessary documents. The person in charge had a scowl and his face expressed only stress. So, I started: “Thank you, thank you, thank you…” After a minute, the man told me there was no problem and that he would help me solve it. The procedure took only five minutes. This past week, for no reason, in particular, I felt compelled to start chanting my mantra. As if by magic, I received a call offering me a very good job opportunity.
These are just a few of my experiences, though I know people who have had similar experiences. These words came to mean so much more to me. Saying them seems to activate my energy, making me feel grateful before I receive something from the universe. These words have become a fundamental part of how I move through the world.
Leaving aside the magical aspect, even when I may be going through a complicated situation, the truth is that I have a lot to be thankful for. I don't know if it's my age (which is really starting to get on), or if it's the number of difficulties that I’ve experienced, or maybe my eyes are just more open now, but I feel gratitude for everything. In particular, and without wanting to sound arrogant, I’m grateful for myself. For the courage I’ve learned to give, for the patience I’ve learned to have because taking risks and going out of my comfort zone led me to meet wonderful people and live incredible experiences. I say thank you to myself, because I believe in myself now and because I like myself very much. I feel gratitude for my brain, my heart, and my lungs. And beyond that, for my clan, for coffee, for the pink clouds, and for the smell of wet flowers.
These may be just words, but they activate the energy of the universe for me. The world works for you when you let it. Magic only comes if you have the door open, and leaving it open is a commitment to yourself. We must believe that we have the capacity to create our own path and it all starts with a meaningful word.
Today, I sat at my desk after a very long and exhausting day, and to be honest, my faith feeling very low. I started saying my magical words, and guess what? I got a call that I had been expecting for a long time and really needed. Sometimes when I feel down, the universe reminds me that it is there for me, and I just need to believe that it will be.
I know that, like today, there will come days when I feel tired and exhausted from life, but it’s up to me to get back on track. If this idea speaks to you the way it spoke to me, don’t look for a specific reason to express gratitude, use it to activate your energy, and repeat after me:
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and thank you.
