Poetry: Adenauerplatz

By Rhianna Varney

I sit and wait at Adenauerplatz.

I have a private lesson in half an hour. You can buy a lot at this station:

pastries, haircuts, and flowers.

It has been raining a lot recently, so I’ve taken shelter here.

I watch the people come and go. They talk, they walk—they disappear.

Earlier today, I hated the world,

but now I feel better about things. How ridiculous—

underground trains! And in the corner, a man sings.
